New primary care plan introduced to keep healthcare services affordable for migrant workers

Migrant workers will soon get easier access to affordable medical help under a new primary healthcare system. Four service providers will run medical centres in six geographical regions in Singapore. Migrant workers will be automatically enrolled with one of these anchor operators, depending on where they reside. Employers can also buy a new primary care plans to cover their workers’ healthcare costs. The annual plans range from $108 to $145 per worker. Workers will co-pay $5 for each visit to the medical centre

Customers and workers fight over Splenda packet in Locust Grove McDonald’s brawl

A video on Twitter is getting a lot of attention after a fight broke out at a McDonald’s in Locust Grove, allegedly over a Splenda packet for a customer’s coffee.

The incident happened at the McDonald’s on Bill Gardner Parkway right off of I-75 when the fast food restaurant didn’t have anymore splenda.

In the video, a man and a woman are seen at the drive-thru window yelling, banging on the window, and throwing things at workers inside. One of the workers can also be seen throwing a drink on them in response.

NTUC aims to set up over 1,000 Company Training Committees by 2022 to help workers upgrade skills

The labour movement is aiming to set up more than 1,000 Company Training Committees by 2022 as it ramps up support of Singapore’s economic transformation. The committees pair unions with employers to identify and address training gaps for workers. About 780 committees have been formed since the initiative was launched about two-and-a-half years ago. NTUC deputy secretary-general Chee Hong Tat gave the update as he launched precision engineering firm Certact’s new factory.
