Art project visualizes toll of U.S. gun violence epidemic and honors victims

A Portland woman is on a mission to visually portray the toll of gun violence in the U.S. through art. The Soul Box Project is inspiring people to fold small origami boxes to create a representation of the lives affected. More than 200,000 boxes were recently on display at the National Mall in Washington D.C. We visited the exhibit and spoke to some of the people directly.

How Taiwanese scammers are being trained to fool victims

More people around the world are falling victim to phone scams. CNA looks at how Taiwan scammers are being trained to fool more mandarin-speaking victims, especially from China. According to Chinese police data, in the seven years since the signing of a joint agreement to fight crime in 2009, China and Taiwan police arrested more than 7,000 scammers, of whom more than half were from Taiwan. The issue has become a flashpoint in cross-strait relations. The extradition of 269 Taiwanese fraud suspects from Spain to China sparked a diplomatic row in 2017.
