The House committee investigating the January 6th Capitol riot have subpoenaed Twitter, Reddit, and the parent companies of Facebook and Google to provide more information on how their platforms spread misinformation ahead of January 6th. Imperative to build on tech adoption to reach vulnerable groups: President Halimah Yacob

President Halimah Yacob has said it’s "imperative" that Singapore builds on its ability to use technology to enhance learning. Recalling how the COVID-19 pandemic had accelerated its adoption, she said tech is a "game-changer" for everyone, including vulnerable groups. Mdm Halimah was speaking at a competition that aims to use innovation to solve real-world problems. The TCS Sustainathon saw 67 tertiary students propose solutions. The winning team from Singapore Management University came up with a free-of-charge online peer-learning platform.

New SIA-NUS corporate laboratory to develop tech solutions to boost aviation sector

A call for Singapore’s aviation sector to not lose focus, and to continue accelerating digitalisation and sustainability efforts. Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat said the global industry will be reshaped significantly post-COVID, even as it shows signs of recovering from the pandemic. He was speaking at the official launch of the SIA-NUS Digital Aviation Corporate Laboratory, which will develop new tech solutions to improve SIA crew operations and services. Over 70 researchers and PHD students will be trained at the digital aviation lab over the next five years.
