ZT Motors to Quadruple Rooftop Footprint in Southeast by 2023

Company poised to become one of the largest minority-owned dealerships in the country. Incredible customer service and strategic acquisitions will ensure auto brand continues to thrive.
Press Release – updated: Dec 2, 2019 14:50 EST

HOUSTON, December 2, 2019 (Newswire.com) – Following the recent successful acquisition of Steve Rayman, one of Atlanta’s leading Chevrolet dealerships, ZT Motors, a portfolio company of Houston-based Private Equity firm, ZT Corporate, is planning for the future. ZT Corporate plans to add 15-20 dealerships throughout the Southeast U.S. to the company’s current roster of five dealerships: BMW, Chevrolet, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz and Toyota, which would quadruple the automotive portfolio’s footprint and position the company to be one of the largest minority-owned dealerships in the country.
In 2015, ZT Motors, founded by Taseer Badar, acquired the Fort Walton Beach, Florida BMW, Mazda, Mercedez-Benz and Toyota dealerships. After rapidly and successfully growing these dealerships, ZT Motors began seeking opportunities to acquire additional dealerships under the leadership of their seasoned automotive management team. ZT Motors retains leadership talent with roots in the local community when it acquires dealerships, and provides that talent with the resources to grow the business.
“I have a passion for cars, and this portfolio combines my passion with ZT Corporate’s mission to create value for our investors, staff and customers,” said Taseer Badar, CEO & Chairman, ZT Corporate. “We are experts and successful at what we do. Once we acquired the Fort Walton Beach Toyota dealership, it became the number one volume Toyota store in the Florida panhandle. We want to replicate this model across the Southeast.”
Over the next three years, ZT Motors will seek opportunities to invest in top-performing and cash-flowing dealerships, where leadership can leverage its operating strength to expand the business in the Southeast region. The portfolio is on pace to double its EBITDA since its initial acquisition of the Fort Walton Beach dealerships and has a goal to achieve $30 million EBITDA by 2023.
ZT Motors is eying several markets within the Southeast, especially Houston. Home to ZT Corporate’s headquarters and most of its investors, Houston is an attractive market for ZT Motors because of its rapidly expanding population and heavy reliance on personal transportation. Additionally, ZT Motors has plans to add high-volume manufacturers to the roster, including Ford and Honda.
“The benefit to a customer of purchasing from a privately-owned dealership such as ZT Motors is we treat customers like family,” said Badar. “We know that buying a car is a major purchase for our customers, and we provide a hands-on auto purchasing approach that is based on decades of experience and our passion for the auto industry.”
“The Southeast is a prime market for ZT Motors to expand. The population is growing and most people will rely on personal cars for transportation for the foreseeable future. At the same time, dealers are retiring, and the need for experienced management staff and capital is growing. We receive calls from dealerships every day looking to sell,” said Keith Monnin, President of ZT Motors. “The dealerships that are most attractive to us have an incredible reputation in the community, clean accounting records and a dedicated, passionate team.”

Auraria Campus Installs Largest Rooftop Solar Array in Downtown Denver

Press Release – updated: Nov 11, 2019 21:39 EST

DENVER, November 11, 2019 (Newswire.com) – The Auraria Sustainable Campus Program (ASCP), in partnership with the Auraria Higher Education Center (AHEC) and Namastè Solar of Boulder, is nearing the completion of a 779 kW solar array installation atop the Auraria Library.
The installation is the largest single-roof solar array in downtown Denver according to Xcel Energy. It will be fully functional in early November and will power two-thirds of the Auraria Library’s electricity needs.
“Auraria Campus is fortunate to be situated in one of the most solar-friendly climates in the country and the new solar array reinforces our ongoing commitment to renewable energy initiatives on campus,” Colleen Walker, AHEC CEO, said.
The 2,100-panel array will produce approximately 1 million kWh annually – or enough energy to power 100 average U.S. homes each year. It will supply 2.5% of the annual campus-wide power consumption, increasing the Auraria Campus solar capacity tenfold to 854 kW. The array will also play a big role in lowering Auraria Campus greenhouse gas emissions by saving an estimated 1.2 million pounds of CO2 from entering the atmosphere each year. Additionally, the energy savings from this project will help increase the ASCP’s annual funding by 10-15% and allow for other impactful projects on campus.
“This is a huge win for the Auraria Campus and the ASCP. Our students and staff have worked so hard to make this a reality. We’re really proud of this project and we’re excited to keep making meaningful progress in this community,” said Chris Herr, the Sustainability Officer for the Auraria Campus.
The ASCP was established in 2011 as the result of a student-led initiative focused on reducing the ecological impact of the Auraria Campus as a whole.
“We’re inspired by the tremendous effort the city, county, and state is making to transition to a clean energy economy and we’re thrilled to be able to significantly contribute to the greening of our local grid,” said ASCP Sustainability Coordinator Jackie Slocombe.
In addition to the ASCP’s renewable energy initiative, there are also many student- and program-led initiatives actively focused on addressing water conservation, waste diversion, and alternative transportation.
“The solar energy from this system will benefit the Denver community,” said Eliot Abel, director of commercial project development at Namasté Solar. “With projects like this, Denver residents will benefit from improved air quality thanks to clean, emission-free energy.”
The 150-acre Auraria Campus serves the Community College of Denver, Metropolitan State University of Denver, and the University of Colorado Denver. AHEC is the Colorado state entity that serves as the umbrella organization for the Auraria Campus. The collective student, faculty, and staff population is approximately 43,000, making it the largest campus in Colorado. To learn more about the ASCP, visit www.sustainableauraria.org.
Namasté Solar is an employee-owned Colorado Public Benefit Cooperative that designs, installs, and maintains solar electric systems for homeowners, commercial property owners, and utility-scale developers.
