Nevada’s state supreme court ruled that gun manufacturers cannot be held responsible for the 60 deaths in the 2017 mass shooting on the Las Vegas Strip. The court said a state law shields them from liability unless the weapon malfunctions.

China is upping the ante on Taiwan as cross-strait tensions soar. It has said that supporters of the island’s independence will be held criminally responsible for life. This is the first time Beijing has laid out concrete punishment for pro-independence backers. It named Taiwanese premier Su Tseng-chang, foreign affairs minister Joseph Wu and parliament speaker You Si-kun as part of a list of people deemed “stubbornly pro-Taiwan independence”. China has accused them of slandering the mainland and joining with external forces to split the country.

New allegations against Dave Halls, the assistant director responsible for safety on set and the man who handed Baldwin the loaded gun, claim he failed to maintain a safe environment in the past.
