BREAKING: Petrol price hits a record 142.94p per litre

Petrol prices have hit a record high across the UK in what the RAC has described as a ‘truly dark day for drivers’.

The average daily price per litre hit 142.94p on Sunday in data reported on Monday morning by RAC / Experian Catalist, which is separate from the weekly average record price reported by government.

The previous record was 142.48p in April 2012, and diesel reached 146.50p a litre on Sunday – still 1.43p short of its April 2012 all-time high of 147.93p.

Singapore researchers recommend living wage of around S$2,900 per month

Researchers in Singapore have recommended a living wage of around S$2,900 per month in order to meet basic needs. They are calling on employers and policymakers to continue working to boost salaries. They said wages under the Progressive Wage Model, which raises pay through upgrading skills and better productivity, fall significantly below that amount. The study by the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy involved around 200 participants, who were surveyed on a list of items and services they needed. That included housing and utilities, clothing, transport and education, among others.
