COVID-19: Health Ministry on Omicron cases from South Africa who transited through Singapore

Two travellers from South Africa who tested positive for the COVID-19 Omicron variant transited through Singapore’s Changi Airport before heading on to Sydney, Australia. Singapore health ministry’s director of medical services Kenneth Mak said they have not “assessed significant risk of infection coming in at this point of time into Singapore.” Seven travellers entering Singapore on the same flight have been isolated with stay-home notice or quarantine and have so far tested negative.

Home Affairs Ministry on the case of teen drug suspect Justin Lee who fell to death

A summary of the events from teen drug suspect Justin Lee’s arrest in February to his death in September was outlined in Parliament by Minister of State for Home Affairs Faishal Ibrahim on Tuesday (Nov 2).

Assoc Prof Faishal addressed questions on law enforcement agencies’ protocols in dealing with young suspects and those with special needs.

"The question is: How can we bring across to more of our young people, the danger of drugs? How can we also bring across to them and their families, that even if they are arrested, they will still have opportunities to reform, and the agencies will help them give up drug taking, and that there can be a good future ahead?" he said.
