Singapore, Malaysia PMs attend launch of land vaccinated travel lane at Woodlands Checkpoint

Singapore and Malaysia are forging ahead with reopening even as the Omicron COVID-19 variant looms large. Land and air vaccinated travel lanes have opened, and both countries are aiming to expand the land arrangement to include general travellers by mid-December. Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his Malaysian counterpart Ismail Sabri Yaakob witnessed the launch of the land VTL on Nov 29. They also discussed plans to extend the air VTL beyond Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.

Some Singapore businesses rev up expansion plans in Australia following VTL launch

Singapore companies in Australia have said that the newly launched vaccinated travel lane will speed up expansion plans. At least two start-ups have indicated plans to fly over managers and staff. Enterprise Singapore said it has been helping firms to expand into Australia, which has a strong science and research as well as a growing start-up scene. Singapore is also one of the top ten investors in Australia.

NEW SPACE STATION MODULE LAUNCHES TO THE INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION

The Russian “Prichal” Node Module and the attached Progress M-UM propulsion stage launched atop a Soyuz 2.1b booster from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on November 24. Prichal is slated to dock to the “Nauka” Multipurpose Laboratory (MLM) of the International Space Station November 26. The node module will serve as a multi-hatch docking port for future Russian visiting vehicles to the station.

Historic NASA launch

The space agency plans to crash a rocket into an asteroid late Tuesday night, in hopes of learning how to change the course of those that may pose a threat to Earth. ABC’s Megan Tevrizian has more.
