Ōmcare realizes that the home is a central point in care delivery, and they are uniquely positioned to capitalize on the promise of connected health, digital technology, and human interaction to influence the necessary and important work of medication adherence and compliance.

BURNSVILLE, Minn. (PRWEB) February 13, 2020
A board of directors is critical to success for startup companies. And with the recent appointment of Jodi Hubler to its board of directors, Minnesota-based digital health company Ōmcare® has rounded out a board that is packed with heavy hitters committed to guiding the company toward commercialization of its Ōmcare Home Health Hub™. Hubler is currently CEO and managing director of Lemhi Ventures and president and board director of Bind On-Demand Health Insurance. She is widely recognized as an investment expert and has a long track record of identifying trends in market needs and backing companies with the potential to meet those needs.
Hubler joins Jeannine Rivet and Amanda Brinkman as recent additions to the Ōmcare Board of Directors, as Ōmcare founder and CEO Lisa Lavin prepares the company for product launch. According to Lavin, Hubler’s decade of venture capital investing and board governance expertise, starting and investing in health care services companies, makes her uniquely qualified to bring a differentiated perspective to the digital health startup.
“We are beyond excited to have such highly talented, passionate, creative and fearless people committed to helping us achieve our mission of changing the way the world cares,” said Lavin. “Jodi brings vast health care connections and a venture capital mindset to the Ōmcare Board, along with a personal passion for shaping the way people experience care. What’s more, Jodi has made it her personal mission to help others succeed. Jodi’s heart puts her heads above the rest.”
Ōmcare aims to extend the reach of caregivers and improve medication adherence and outcomes through its Ōmcare Home Health Hub, which gives caregivers of all types – from physicians and pharmacists to home care providers or family members – the ability to see and speak to elderly or disabled dependents and confirm compliance with medication treatment plans from anywhere. The easy-to-use Ōmcare system is designed to serve as a conduit for telehealth and virtual care services. Ōmcare facilitates remote monitoring and interaction via the audiovisual interface and provides confirmation of a patient’s actions and status, which supports and gives family members greater peace of mind.
In addition to her position on the Ōmcare Board of Directors, Hubler currently serves on the boards of Central Logic, Digital Reasoning, Caring Bridge, and Medical Alley Association.
“Ōmcare realizes that the home is a central point in care delivery, and they are uniquely positioned to capitalize on the promise of connected health, digital technology, and human interaction to influence the necessary and important work of medication adherence and compliance,” said Hubler. “The digital health market has been noisy with many surface solutions, but Ōmcare has depth and the ability to meet people wherever they are in their health care journey. The Ōmcare Home Health Hub is a very elegant and tangible solution that enables aging in place and that will address medication adherence, individual health and well-being, and quality of life.”
Ōmcare earned its third patent from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (U.S. Patent No. 10,347,377) for the company’s web-enabled, audiovisual, medication-dispensing telemedicine system for the home in 2019. The device made its official debut at the Leading Age Annual Conference and Expo late last year, where it earned nods from industry media as an “emerging technology in the caregiving space.” Ōmcare was also recently named among the “20 Hottest Flyover Tech Companies” by The New York Observer, based on insights from a panel of healthcare and business experts at the 38th Annual JP Morgan Healthcare Conference.

Bayer, Meiogenix Collaborate to Accelerate Agricultural Innovation Through the Development of Unique Technologies

Press Release – updated: Feb 10, 2020 08:00 CET

MONHEIM, Germany and PARIS, February 10, 2020 ( – Bayer and Meiogenix, a biotech company focused on next-generation breeding technologies, announced today a collaboration to advance agricultural research and development by accelerating the development of Meiogenix’s proprietary technologies related to plant breeding and genome editing applications. This new research collaboration has the potential to deliver much-needed plant health and nutrition improvements to food crops so farmers can more efficiently and sustainably grow improved plant varieties that deliver the types of foods consumers want.
“Farmers need innovative solutions as they face limited natural resources and a changing climate,” said Jeremy Williams, Head of Plant Biotechnology, Crop Science Research & Development (R&D) at Bayer. “Access to Meiogenix’s proprietary technologies could improve the precision and speed with which our breeders enhance crops, which could ultimately accelerate those solutions for the diverse needs of people and our planet.”
Meiogenix’s proprietary technologies are used to induce the exchange of genomic regions between chromosomes of plant cells during meiosis, the natural process that generates genetic diversity during plant breeding. Technologies based on meiotic recombination provide commercial crops with access to a broader genetic diversity, including complex traits for improved food quality, plants’ resistance to diseases and pests, and higher yield potential. The resulting hybrids and varieties have the potential to deliver value throughout the food chain, from farmers to consumers.
“Over the past decade, we have assembled unique know-how, intellectual property portfolio and network of experts to help generate biodiversity and accelerate breeding through modulating meiotic recombination. We are proud to collaborate with Bayer to develop the next generations of crops,” said Giacomo Bastianelli, Co-founder & CEO of Meiogenix.
“Agriculture is facing the challenge of adjusting plant physiology to rapid climate, pest and disease changes, as well as preparing the next generation of healthier food. Collaborating on these new breeding technologies will be key to bringing innovative solutions to farmers and consumers,” said Luc Mathis, strategic advisor of Meiogenix.
As part of the project, Meiogenix will collaborate with top academic institutes to advance these technologies in crops.
Bayer offers a wide range of educational materials regarding plant breeding and gene editing technologies on its website.

AMICO HYDRODRY® self-draining vented wall system wins “Green Innovation of the Year Award”

AMICO HYDRODRY® was awarded the 2020 “Green Innovation of the Year” by Green Builder Magazine.

These standouts represent the best practices, design, products, and ethics of sustainability in the country today.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (PRWEB) January 30, 2020
AMICO HYDRODRY®, a self-draining vented wall system for use behind masonry wood and shake siding, veneer stone and stucco, was awarded the 2020 “Green Innovation of the Year” by Green Builder Magazine. The prestigious award was given as part of Green Builder’s “Home of the Year and Sustainability Awards” program – now in its 12th year – which spotlights individuals, projects and products that encourage sustainability and efficiency.
“We are proud of all the winners of this year’s awards program,” said Green Builder Media CEO Sara Gutterman. “These standouts represent the best practices, design, products, and ethics of sustainability in the country today. Most importantly, their innovations and commitment to green will no doubt inspire future individuals, companies, and cities to ramp up their commitment to the environment in the coming years.”
AMICO (Alabama Metal Industries Corporation) is a global leader in innovation, manufacturing and steel fabrication. HYDRODRY, AMICO’s most recent innovation, creates a dedicated drainage and ventilation cavity behind exterior walls – with a rain screen and patented profiles that allow the wall to both vent and drain – extending their useful life by drying and creating continuous airflow throughout the wall cavity. This prevents moisture from damaging vital members of the wall system, providing better air quality and increasing the life and sustainability of the home.
“Traditional building practices and terminations still keep moisture trapped behind exterior walls,” said AMICO Director of Marketing, Product Innovation and Business Development Gary Baltz II. “This product is revolutionary in that it provides a dedicated drainage channel at the bottom of the wall and over openings, as well as a venting system that allows evaporated moisture to escape from the top of the cladding.”
“Trapped moisture is one of the key causes of microbial growth and structural damage to a home’s framework and can cause rotting and a host of other air quality and home health problems,” Baltz added. “We’re pleased that Green Builder recognized our commitment to designing products that contribute to better comfort, sustainability and the overall health and life of the home.”
