COVID-19 infections in New Zealand have hit a new high for the second time in three days. 102 new cases were confirmed on Oct 21. The vast majority were from Auckland, which has been under lockdown for two months. Authorities said infections are likely to keep rising unless vaccination rates accelerate. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern will unveil a new framework to deal with COVID-19 on Oct 22. She is expected to announce the easing of some curbs when the country reaches a 70% double dose vaccination rate. 66% of New Zealand’s population has already been fully inoculated.
