Archaeologist John Miksic on the significance of Fort Siloso in the context of Singapore’s history

Fort Siloso has been proposed as Singapore’s 74th national monument. If confirmed, the historical site will be gazetted in February. Siloso the most well-preserved coastal fortification in Singapore. It was designed to protect the country from a sea-ward attack in World War II, with its guns pointed to the West at Japanese troops. Emeritus Professor John Miksic, an archaeologist who has been involved in excavations in Singapore since the 1980s, shared more on the significance and uniqueness of Fort Siloso.
