Nurse United decries COMELEC’s decision to reject 107 party-list groups

Nurses United First Nominee Maristela Abenojar tells One PH’s #SaTotooLang they are disappointed with the Commission on Elections after the poll body denied their accreditation in the 2022 elections. COMELEC has denied the applications of 107 party-list groups, including Nurses United, LGBTQ Plus, Duterte Atin ‘To, and Nora Aunor’s National Organization for Responsive Advocacies for the Arts (NORAA).

MOM recognises groups that helped in Singapore’s fight against pandemic

Groups that took care of migrant workers and domestic helpers in Singapore during the COVID-19 pandemic were among those to receive awards from the Manpower Ministry on Nov 26. The first-of-its-kind event recognised the 10 recipients which included associations and NGOs. Their contributions ranged from helping locals find jobs to teaching migrant workers about their rights.

Ahmaud Arbery | Defense motions mistrial, says ‘Black Panthers’ and other groups forming ‘mob’

This comes as closing arguments begin in the Ahmaud Arbery death trial.

Closing arguments began on Monday, Nov. 22, 2021 in the trial of the killing of Ahmaud Arbery.

Arbery was shot and killed on Feb. 23, 2020. Cellphone video leaked to the public shows two armed white men in a truck approaching the 25-year-old Black man as he runs down the road. One of the men, later identified as Travis McMichael, and Arbery struggle over McMichael’s shotgun before Arbery is shot and collapses.

Travis McMichael, his father Gregory McMichael and William "Roddy" Bryan, who recorded the video, are all charged with murder in Arbery’s death.
