Benzino spoke about being in the group The Almighty RSO and Dave interviewing them for his radio station at Harvard, which is when he and Benzino initially met. From there, Benzino kept hanging out with Mays, who started The Source as a newsletter, and he turned it into a magazine with his three college friends. After Benzino did jail time and offered up his apartment to Mays, who used it to put together The Source magazine, the two remained friends.
