Singapore’s exports rise 17.9% in October

Analysts are upgrading their forecast for Singapore’s full-year non-oil domestic exports, given the stronger-than-expected performance thus far. They are now expecting between 11 and 12 per cent growth, up from their previous nine per cent forecast. October’s NODX jumped 17.9 per cent on-year, the highest since 2017. The non-electronic and electronics sectors helped drive the 11th straight month of expansion.

India to resume exports of COVID-19 vaccines

India will resume exports of COVID-19 vaccines soon, prioritising neighbouring countries. The world’s biggest maker of vaccines stopped exports in April to focus on inoculating its own population. Since then, daily infections have plateaued at around 30,000. But there are warnings against complacency, as COVID-19 testing in India slows.

Singapore exports rise 12.7% in July, marking eight straight months of growth

Singapore’s non-oil domestic exports in July exceeded expectations to expand for the eighth month in a row. The 12.7% growth is led mostly by demand for non-electronic goods like machinery, but tapered by a slower expansion of electronic exports. Market watchers said the numbers are likely to look rosy for the rest of the year.

Singapore raises trade forecasts as non-oil exports grow 10.1% in 2Q2021

Logistics companies are gearing up for higher export demand as Singapore upgrades its trade forecasts for the third time this year. Non-oil domestic exports are projected to grow by 7% to 8% on-year, up from the previous 1% to 3% forecast. Non-oil domestic exports grew by 10.1% on-year in the second quarter, extending the previous quarter’s 9.7% rise. China, Hong Kong and Taiwan were the top markets contributing to Singapore’s NODX growth. However, exports to other key markets like the US and the EU dropped.

Singapore exports rise at faster pace of 15.9% in June

Singapore’s non-oil domestic exports rose at a faster pace in June 2021, surging 15.9% from a low base last year. The rally was supported mainly by a growth in non-electronic exports, driven by higher global demand for petrochemicals and specialised machinery. Month-on month, key exports saw a 6% increase after a decline of 2.1% in May. Experts said the improvement is a sign of optimism. Economic activities are picking up pace in Singapore as the country steps up its vaccination drive.

Singapore’s exports grow at faster pace of 8.8% in May

Singapore’s non-oil domestic exports (NODX) rose at a faster pace of 8.8% in May, compared to the 6% growth recorded in the previous month. The petrochemicals segment and rising oil prices are helping push the Republic’s key exports higher. However, the figures show a decline on a monthly basis, and one analyst said it could be a sign that exports are levelling off after supply chain disruptions amid the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
