More than half of Europe’s population will be infected with Omicron in next two months: WHO

The World Health Organization has forecast that more than 50% of Europe’s population will be infected with the fast-spreading Omicron COVID-19 variant within two months. WHO’s Europe director Hans Kluge said the region has seen over seven million new COVID-19 cases in the first week of 2022, with infection numbers more than doubling over a two-week period. As cases surge, hundreds of thousands have been forced to isolate.
