A town inspector reassured residents in 2018 that the building that collapsed near Miami last week was in ‘very good shape,’ just a month after an engineer warned that the high-rise had suffered major structural damage that required repair, according to an NPR report.

Report from engineers reveals structural issues with condo building before deadly collapse

The search-and-rescue mission is continuing after the partial building collapse of the Chaplain Towers in Surfside, Florida last week. Crews from Israel and Mexico are among those helping out local Florida rescuers as documents out now show a variety of problems with the building structure prior to the collapse. David Begnaud reports.
