And scientists are warning of another winter lockdown if minister don’t act now to stop transmission.

Some of Singapore’s COVID-19 measures may be eased if weekly infection rate drops below 1: MTF

Singapore will ease some COVID-19 measures such as allowing household members to dine-in together if the weekly infection rate drops below 1 and the hospital situation is stable, said co-chair of the multi-ministry task force Lawrence Wong during a press conference on Saturday (Oct 23). https://cna.asia/2XANTRM

The task force also announced that the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine will be included in Singapore’s national vaccination programme. https://cna.asia/3E7ZlE5

From Jan 1, 2022, only employees who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have recovered from the disease within the past 270 days will be allowed to return to workplaces. https://cna.asia/3vKK8pK

A slew of border measures were eased, including the resumption of travel from countries such as Bangladesh and India, as well as the loosening of quarantine restrictions for those from Category III countries, which now include Malaysia and Indonesia. https://cna.asia/3b0New6

Kenneth Mak on COVID-19 deaths involving younger people and those who were vaccinated

At a multi-ministry task force news conference on Saturday (Oct 23), the Ministry of Health’s Director of Medical Services Kenneth Mak was asked about recent COVID-19 deaths involving younger people and those who were vaccinated. “It’s clear that vaccination does protect, but because it is not 100%, there will be some who unfortunately do have more severe costs, and unfortunately passed away,” he said. Singapore saw its youngest COVID-19 fatality earlier in October, when a 23-year-old person died from COVID-19 complications.
