Beijing Winter Olympics: Torch relay confined to closed venues due to COVID-19 concerns

Organisers of the Beijing Winter Olympics have scaled back the Games’ torch relay further. The event will now be cordoned off to the public and held in closed venues, due to COVID-19 concerns. The torch relay takes place from Feb 2 to 4 in Beijing, Yanqing and Zhangjiakou, where the Olympics will be held. Only a select few will be able to participate in the relay, while others can interact online. The Winter Olympics will also be one of the world’s most restricted mass sporting events since the pandemic. All participants are required to operate in a strict "bubble" cut off from the outside world.
