Camper favorite, Nike Baseball Camps, will be returning to Vanguard University and will be joined for the first time by Nike Softball Camps.
Directing the Nike Softball Camp will be first year Head Coach Amber Freeman. Coach Freeman enjoyed a stellar playing career at Arizona State University. Freeman was a three-time All-American and was the 2013 Pac-12 Player of the Year before she went on to Play with the USA National Team and USSSA Pride in National Pro Fastpitch.

The Nike Baseball Camp at Vanguard will again be led by Head Coach Robert Pegg. Coach Pegg had an instant impact on the Lions baseball team. Since taking over in 2013, Vanguard have gone 226-156-2. In 2019, the Lions had a made a post-season run but were defeated in the conference championship game. The baseball camp was a big hit last summer in its inaugural year, with both parents and campers; “He made new friends with shared interests. He said he feels more confident in batting and learned a lot. He wants to return next year as the experience was GREAT!” stated Parent Yvonne V.
The Softball camp will take place from July 13 – 16 while the Vanguard Baseball Camp will be held from June 29 – July 2.

We’re are thrilled to be adding an extra session of baseball camp and to be teaming up with Head Softball Coach, Steven Watson, to offer Nike Softball Camps next summer as well.

The Nike Baseball Camps will be returning and will be joined for the first time at SAGU by Nike Softball Camps.
Directing the first year Nike Softball Camp will be SAGU Head Coach Steven Watson. The SAGU softball team finished with the programs first 30-win season in 2019 and ended #8 in the NCCAA rankings. They advanced to the NCCAA World Series after winning the Central Regional tournament.
Coach Watson will be joined this summer by his staff of top-notch coaches and team. The camp will be geared towards girls ages 8-18 of all-skill levels. Over the course of the camp, players will cover fielding, hitting, base-running, team-play, and fundamental skills.
The longstanding Nike Baseball Camp at SAGU will be led again by Head Coach Matt Cornacchione and his staff. In 2019, the Lions made a post-season run and were defeated in the conference championship game.
Coach Cornacchione and his staff will have two weeks of camp in 2020. The first week is for camper ages 6-8 and will be a half-day camp running from June 22-26. The second week will have extended day and overnight options for ages 9-18 and will run from July 20-24. A camper parent from last summer, Carmen I., summed up her son’s camp experience saying, “He loved the individual attention coaches gave and the advice for improvement. He’s already asking to go back next year.”
