Civil servants to get 1-month year-end bonus; additional $500 for junior grade officers

Civil servants in Singapore will get a one-month year-end bonus in 2021 to recognise their hard work in the nation’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Mid-year and year-end bonuses were suspended last year due to the recession. This year, all civil servants will receive an Annual Variable Component of one month. Junior grade officers can also expect an additional one-time payment of $500. Together with the mid-year bonus, they will receive a total of 1.3 months in bonuses this year.

Ahmaud Arbery trial today | Judge working through debate on additional 911 calls in neighborhood

Ahmaud Arbery was shot and killed on Feb. 23, 2020. Three men face murder charges in a trial in southeast Georgia. The trial is on Day 8 as of Nov.16. The state and the defense went back and forth regarding "general" 911 calls in the neighborhood where Arbery was shot and killed. The judge has not yet made a ruling.

Ahmaud Arbery was shot and killed on Feb. 23, 2020. Cellphone video leaked to the public shows two armed white men in a truck approaching the 25-year-old Black man as he runs down the road. One of the men, later identified as Travis McMichael, and Arbery struggle over McMichael’s shotgun before Arbery is shot and collapses.

Travis McMichael, his father Gregory McMichael and William "Roddy" Bryan, who recorded the video, are all charged with murder in Arbery’s death.
