Sydney lifts COVID-19 curfews as New South Wales hits 80% first-dose vaccination milestone

Australia’s hardest-hit state New South Wales will lift curfews in Sydney as it hits a COVID-19 vaccination milestone. 80% of people in New South Wales have received at least one dose, and close to 50% of the state’s population is fully vaccinated. Overnight curfews will be lifted in Sydney’s 12 worst-affected areas. However, many restrictions are still in place, including movement and workplace curbs. Authorities have signalled a further easing of rules once 70% of the population is fully vaccinated.
