PALM SPRINGS, Calif., November 21, 2019 (Newswire.com) – GayRealEstate.com, a service which connects buyers and sellers with compatible agents, co-sponsored the Transgender Day of Remembrance event November 20 at Palm Springs City Hall. An annual observance that honors the memory of the transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence. The event was one among many occurring throughout the nation which served to honor the lives lost to senseless, discriminatory violence.
The event featured Ryan Cassata, an artist and activist, who shared his powerful story on how he traversed the obstacles of acceptance that every transgender person must eventually face.
GayRealEstate.com is committed to the rights and protections of transgender individuals in many ways; including providing monthly financial assistance to the National Center for Transgender Equality.
In 2018, advocates tracked at least 26 deaths of transgender or gender non-conforming people in the U.S. due to fatal violence, the majority of whom were Black transgender women, according to the Human Rights Campaign. At least 22 have been fatally shot, or killed by other violent means, in 2019 already.
The victims were killed by acquaintances, partners and strangers, some of whom have been arrested and charged, while others have yet to be identified. Many of these cases involve clear anti-transgender bias, according to the Human Rights Campaign.
The GayRealEstate.com team works to identify the best LGBTQ/LGBTQ friendly real estate agents in each state and region of the country and cultivates relationships and deep networks in each, to provide their clients the support they need to find ideal residency.
