Melbourne will exit its fifth COVID-19 lockdown in just a few hours. Authorities said the city has successfully contained an outbreak of the Delta variant for a second time. Only 10 new cases have been reported. Schools and restaurants will be allowed to reopen, but some restrictions will remain in place. Meanwhile, Sydney has been warned that its lockdown could continue for at least another month. The city has already been under stay-home orders for four weeks. Despite restrictions, it has reported 172 new infections in the past 24 hours — the highest number this year.
