Malaysia extends nationwide lockdown by two weeks until June 28

Malaysia will extend its nationwide lockdown by two weeks. The movement control order had been due to end on June 14, but will now continue until June 28. The number of COVID-19 cases and deaths has remained high despite two weeks of tight restrictions. Nearly 7,000 new infections were reported on June 11, after two days of dipping below 5,000. Meanwhile, the King has held meetings with political leaders to discuss the government’s handling of the pandemic.
