Families can scatter ashes of loved ones at a new garden at Choa Chu Kang Cemetery Complex. Set to open on May 17, it’s an additional choice for managing cremated remains. Four lanes, each surrounded by trees and shrubs, provide privacy for visitors to take part in the ash scattering process at the 9,500 sqm garden. Auto sprinklers will be activated at the end of the day. There’s also a prayer facility for people to conduct simple rites and flowers can be placed at racks around the garden. But the burning of joss sticks, food offerings and playing of instruments or music will not be allowed.
