US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has arrived in New Delhi on his first visit to India as America’s top diplomat. Washington is looking to India to help counter China’s rising influence, but talks could be dampened by plans to discuss India’s human rights record. The visit follows US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s trip to India in March, US climate envoy John Kerry’s visit in April, and it reciprocates a visit by India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar to the US in May.
