Hong Kong’s new ‘patriots-only’ government to prioritise housing issues: Carrie Lam

Hong Kong has just conducted its first "patriots-only" poll to pick an election committee that votes for the next chief executive. Current chief executive Carrie Lam has defended the new electoral system, saying that it will improve governance and help solve people’s problems. She said the key priorities under the new political system imposed by China are: Solving Hong Kong’s housing shortage and increasing land supply. However, she would not confirm reports suggesting that Beijing has ordered property tycoons to pool resources and help solve Hong Kong’s housing crisis.
