Singapore’s ruling party will have to choose a new successor to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat has decided to step aside as the leader of the fourth-generation leadership team. Mr Heng feels that the next prime minister should have a sufficiently long runway, a situation that is not helped by the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic.
