Anger as UK helps poorer countries fight Covid – by slashing other aid

Those running aid programmes in countries from Syria to Yemen and Myanmar to Uganda were dealt a devastating blow last year when the UK Foreign Office cut its overseas aid budget by around £4 billion.


Tonight, we reveal concerns from ministers that the dwindling pot of aid cash could be whittled down even further, as the cost of donating PPE, oxygen generators and ventilators to nations which need them due to Covid, will come out of the same slashed budget.
