Almost 2,000 riders in Singapore have signed up so far for compulsory theory tests for e-bikes and e-scooters. 96% of those who have taken it achieved a passing grade, but others are still waiting to register due to issues like technical glitches. The test, which takes up to 40 minutes, covers topics like equipment information and safety checks. It’s being rolled out to boost safety, following a spate of accidents linked to personal mobility devices in 2019. From 2022, riders of some 38,000 power-assisted bicycles and e-scooters will need the digital certificate to ride in public.
